new Champion of Children story in the works!
greetings, Family! hope everyone's doing well... i think this is a good time to announce that i'm working on a NEW Champion of Children story! i wrote it a long time ago, but always wanted to collab with other people on it. having given up on that, i finally mustered up enough energy to draw it myself! i'm not sure how long it will be, so we'll see... but i have broken down the first five pages, and i'm feeling good about it!it will star the Champ, (seen here) with her whole fam, (Big Madd Skillz, Junior Raw, and 2 Raw), and cameos by every major Champ hero and villain! Plus, a special guest that might just earn me a lawsuit! anyways, 'till then, enjoy the fresh pic!

adventures in logo Design...
as most of you know, Logo Design is one of the things i offer to clients... i have had some success with it, but there's also a little history of projects getting "killed"... where i get paid for the work completed, but it isn't what the client wants, and they decide to go with another artist. the example shown here is one such example. the client was attracted to my work from seeing it on the internet, but ultimately, i think we were not getting through to each other. whatever it was that they wanted, i wasn't quite getting it. i think i learned some lessons for future projects, and i really like the piece, but ultimately it goes into the loss column...
can't win 'em all!

mySpace Sketchbook
i've been drawing a lot lately... for those who don't check it regularly, i'd say the mySpace sketchbook section has probably tripled in size since you saw it last! right now it's up to 114 drawings, i think... and i'll probably upload more sketches tomorrow.recent developments in my life have really made me think about the future... i've been doing more and more freelance work, and looking for ways to REALLY crank things up in 2008... as a result,
i can't stop thinking, so that means i also can't stop drawing!
there's a variety of stuff in the sketchbook... i edited very little. some sketches are comics ideas, wips (works in progress), concept sketches for clients, or just free association doodles from work.

my Art Conspiracy painting...
"Madonna and Child" was painted on a 3' x 3' piece of plywood, lightly primed. well, i used the term "painted" loosely... the yellow and brown tones in the piece are painted with Acrylic, the rest was done with Sharpies.it sold at a charity auction sponsored by Art Cionspiracy in dallas earlier in the month. took me a while to figure out how to get the piece off my cell phone and onto the web where you could see it... so, here it is! hit me with comments and/or questions (commissions don't suck either...)

Art Conspiracy benefit show
i'm part of a benefit show this sunday Dec 9 at The Door (2513 Main St in Dallas) called Art Conspiracy III ... i'll be on deck from 6-9pm saturday painting at the venue. i'll do a freestyle piece, so i don't know what i'm gonna paint, but i'm taking suggestions all the way up to the time of, so lemme know your ideas!
cover is 10 bucks, proceeds go to St. Anthony's Community Center. it's fun for the whole fam! get at me, and i'll have other swag in my napsack for those that wanna cop somethin'... i'll bring paintings, prints and postcards, PLUS the work i create for the show will be auctioned off, so you can get it cheap, i'm sure!

Buffalo Soul (Update)...

what's up fam!here's an illustrator joint i finished recently called "Buffalo Soul", commisioned by one of my clients. "Buffalo Soul" is about the Buffalo Soldiers, the black division in the U.S. military before it was integrated. the term "buffalo soldier" was coined by native americans to describe these rawkus brown dudes they kept seeing on the battlefields...

in doing my research for this, i got into the subject! originally applied to the members of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, the term Buffalo Soldier eventually encompassed the U.S. 9th Cavalry Regiment, U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment, 24th Infantry Regiment and the 25th Infantry Regimentas always let me know what y'all think!
