Give Thanks

Hope everybody's having a great Thanksgiving weekend. We kicked it at a friend's house, watched the Saints beat the Cowboys, and ate lots of good food. As the evening wore on, it was fun to listen to the ladies breaking down their Black Friday shopping strategies. They got it down to a science! I hope you get everything you're after... If you plan to do some virtual shopping you should definitely take advantage of the Free Shipping on orders of $50 or more in the Ziontific shop, now through Sunday 11/28! Just enter Coupon Code GIVESHIP50 and get free shipping in the U.S. and discounted international shipping. To see what's available in the shop, click here!
Anyways, so many things are up in the air with me and many other people around the country, but I am thankful to be alive... to have a loving family, a roof over my head, and another chance to get it right! Thanks for reading, and enjoy yourself!

Here's a bunch of recent drawings and stuff

I been so busy lately, I haven't been posting all the artwork I'm doing, so here's a quick dump. I'm sure I'm leaving some stuff out, but here's some recent drawings and stuff for you to look at...

New Drawing:Talisman (from Alpha Flight)

Took me about 45 minutes to draw Talisman, the native Canadian mystic, daughter of Shaman from Alpha Flight...

Playdough spotted sporting my Teeshirt in Cincinatti!

Playdough of the mighty Deepspace 5 crew has been one of my favorite emcees for years, even before I knew he lived in my area.

Chicken Hates Me

As you may know, I'm giving away free drawings with paid subscription to my magazine GhettoManga Quarterly, and one of my new subscribers said "Draw me a chicken. How you would draw a chicken. Any way you want."
So this is what I came up with:

JJ ♥s Batman

Did this for a customer whose son loves Batman, so obviously, his kid is a genius...
Anyways, I'm currently giving away free commissions drawings like this (or 8.5 x 11 prints of existing pieces) with a paid subscription to my magazine GhettoManga Quarterly! for details, go here.

Two Whom It May Concern

here's the preliminary invitation for Marley's 2nd BEE-Day Party. I made this from a quick ballpoint pen sketch, and some judicious photoshopping!

new drawings

Ambush Bug (30 minutes)
Ikaris (30 minutes)
Clayface (30 Minutes)
I drew all these with photoshop. Trying to stick to my Daily Sketch Challenge

Two BEE Continued...

Time flies when you're having fun! 09.09.10 is my daughter Marley's 2nd Borneversary, so we're scrambling to put together a birthday party for her (if you think you should be invited, you pro'lly are... get at me). I'm going to design the invitations and assorted printed crap for that, so keep your eyes peeled for some of the stuff, which I'll post for you. This sketch is a first shot fired, so to speak... hope you like it!

A little (Afro)Steampunk Fantasy

Wonderdark Rising by Samax Amen
This is one of the commissions* I have had on my desk screaming for attention for a minute. I'd say it's about 90% done

Father's Day Weekend photos

I hope everyone had a good Father's Day. We had a great weekend for this, my second Father's Day. On Friday, Charlene took Marley to a birthday party and where she got to wear her new yellow swimsuit and play in the kiddie pool with the other kids, who taught her how to scoop up water and pour it out on herself and others! Then we all went to the pizza place on Sunday. It was a simple, fun outing with the family... that's how I like it!

Wired for Empathy?

"We don't lose our... nationhood, religious identities or even our blood ties. We extend our identities so we can think of the human race as our fellow sojourners, and other creatures as our evolutionary family, and the biosphere as our community. We have to rethink the human narrative."
-Jeremy Rifkin
economist, speaker and activist

Quote of the Day

"When I am writing my problems become invisible and I am the same person I always was. All is well. I am as I should be."
-Roger Ebert
