Because you care, here's My Top performing Images for the last quarter...

For the first time in a while, my dog ISN'T the top selling image of all the designs I have on Cafe Press. There's a three-way tie for the top spot in units sold, and those images are listed below. Honorable mention goes to Iron Mike, which moved a lot less units than the images below, and yet accounts for almost as much loot, because the items it sold on had higher mark-up on average. Thanks Champ! Anyways, these are my highest selling images (both in the Ziontific shop and in the CP Marketplace) over the last 90 days...

Captain America

Captain America by samax. watercolor brush pens on computer paper.
okay, so for some reason i decided to enter this challenge on deviantArt to submit a new piece of art every single day for the entire month of July (this is the second one. for the first one, go here) . i'm not sure why i did it, since i am already MAD busy... BUT i do intend to keep pace. so as NOT to overwhelm the inboxes of all my email subscribers, i won't post them all here, but i'll definitely post some. i'll be using this challenge to catch up on some of the stuff on my "to do" list, including pending commissions and my comics assignment i keep talking about. anybody who wants a sketch of their favorite character, go to the sketch portrait post. same pricing will apply...
anyways, that's it for now....

Image of the month August

America's relationship with the Military is a strange and ambivalent one. they need our protection just as much as we need theirs. The Soldier challenges you to see our troops -for all their heroism and power- as fellow human beings. how a viewer interprets this image says as much about their views on war, government and patriotism as it does about my perspective on these matters.

Buffalo Soul (Update)...

Buffalo Soul by samax. hand drawn, colored/finished with Illustrator
research sketch, ballpoint pen, sharpie
what's up fam!
here's an illustrator joint i finished recently called "Buffalo Soul", commisioned by one of my clients.
"Buffalo Soul" is about the Buffalo Soldiers, the black division in the U.S. military before it was integrated. the term "buffalo soldier" was coined by native americans to describe these rawkus brown dudes they kept seeing on the battlefields...
original drawing for final design, pencil
in doing my research for this, i got into the subject! originally applied to the members of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, the term Buffalo Soldier eventually encompassed the U.S. 9th Cavalry Regiment, U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment, 24th Infantry Regiment and the 25th Infantry Regiment

you can learn more about the buffalo Soldiers at http://www.buffalosoldier.net/

as always let me know what y'all think!
peace,

samax.
